Pirates Designate Hayden Penn For Assignment

In order to make room for left handed pitcher Brian Burres, the Pittsburgh Pirates designated reliever Hayden Penn for assignment. This coming just two weeks after the Pirates claimed Penn off waivers from the Florida Marlins.

Penn, has struggled in the early parts of this season giving up 8 runs on 8 hits all in 2.1 innings pitched. Last year, Penn started 13 games for the Marlins triple A affiliate and posted a 2-4 record with an ERA of 4.11. In 16 games with the Marlins last year, Penn had a 7.77 ERA in 22 innings pitched.
