Roster Moves (6/9): Brad Lincoln and Jose Tabata debut in the majors
After Stanton and Strasburg made their major league debuts on June 8th, the prospect promotion party continued on the 9th.
(moves after the jump)
AL Central:
No moves to report.
AL East:
The Toronto Blue Jays optioned LHP-Rommie Lewis (27) to Las Vegas and activated RHP-Jesse Litsch (25) from the 60-day disabled list.
AL West:
The Texas Rangers signed 1st round pick (15th overall) OF-Jake Skole (18) for $1.557 million.
NL Central:
The Pittsburgh Pirates designated LHP-Jack Taschner (32) for assignment and called up RHP-Brad Lincoln (25). It took a while longer to make his major league debut than many of the other top-10 picks in the 2006 draft (Lincoln went 4th overall), but after fighting back from injury and a completely lost 2007 season, the moment finally arrived. He lasted 6 innings against the Nationals but gave up 7 H, 5 ER, 2 BB and 1 HR while recording 3 SO. All of that added up to a sub-par Game Score of 39 and a loss.
Lincoln wasn’t the only Pirates prospect to make his debut on this day. He was joined by OF-Jose Tabata (21) who was also called up from Triple-A. While Lincoln’s debut was lackluster (at best), Tabata made a statement by going 2-4 with a run, a walk and a stolen base. To clear a spot for Jose, 1B-Jeff Clement (26) was optioned to Indianapolis.
Due to a bruised thumb, the Chicago Cubs placed 3B-Aramis Ramirez (31) on the 15-day DL. The move was made retroactive to June 8th. 1B/3B-Chad Tracy (30) was called up from Iowa to take A-Ram’s place on the roster.
NL East:
The Florida Marlins outrighted 1B-Mike Lamb (34) to New Orleans after he cleared waivers.
The Philadelphia Phillies signed 1st round pick (27th overall) LHP-Jesse Biddle for $1.16 million.
NL West:
The Arizona Diamondbacks designated RHP-Saul Rivera (32) for assignment and called up RHP-Blaine Boyer (28) from Reno.
