Welcome to the July 5th edition of Roster Moves published in the early hours of July 6th. The Astros and Royals completed a minor trade while 6 other organizations made moves involving 13 players.

Trade Time:
The Houston Astros acquired C-Edwin Bellorin (28) from the Kansas City Royals and sent him Round Rock. Kansas City received cash considerations in return for Bellorin who became expendable due to recent promotions in the Royals system. Among those promotions were the moves of Manuel Pina to Omaha (AAA), Ben Theriot to NW Arkansas (AA), and Wil Myers to Wilmington (A+). On the flip side, the Astros needed some Triple-A depth at the position after sending Kevin Cash to Boston on Thursday.
AL Central:
No moves to report.
AL East:
The Boston Red Sox placed RHP-Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list with a strained hamstring. The move was made retroactive to June 27th. LHP-Felix Doubront (22) was called up from Pawtucket to take Clay’s place in the starting rotation.
The Tampa Bay Rays signed LHP-Brian Shouse (41) to a minor league contract.
AL West:
The Seattle Mariners signed RHP-Mark Worrell (27) to a minor league contract.
The Oakland Athletics were busy on Monday. They placed 1B-Conor Jackson (28) on the 15-day disabled list and optioned RHP-Clayton Mortenson (25) to Sacremento. They also called up OF-Matt Carson (29) and OF-Matt Watson (31) from Triple-A. Finally OF-Travis Buck (26) was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. NL Central:
The Chicago Cubs optioned RHP-Jeff Stevens (26) to Iowa and called up RHP-Justin Berg (26).
NL East:
The New York Mets placed UT-Fernando Tatis (35) on the 15-day disabled list and called up LHP-Raul Valdes from Buffalo.
NL West:
No moves to report.
