The Baseball Side of FanSided (BBSoFS) has been called into the Call to the Pen office for evaluation. As such it will not appear today and likely won’t appear in the future in its usual form and format. Also waiting outside our office for similar evaluations are Roster Moves and Picks of the Pen.
Earlier this week a new daily feature, Follow the Leaders, made its debut. Based on the number of pageviews for the first two editions, it was not well received. That, coupled with the fact that it was not enjoyable to pull together, has landed it in the scrap bin. It may be pulled out, dusted off, and revamped or combined with something else down the road but for now it is on a permanent vacation.
We continue our efforts to provide content that is interesting to read and enjoyable to write. That is the reason we are currently examining some of these “non-column” features that we have been running for a while.
If you have been with us from the beginning you know that our transaction coverage, currently under the auspices of Roster Moves, has undergone several transformations. I hope you will agree that where we are at today with that coverage is a vast improvement over where we used to be, but we feel we can make even more improvements.
I have been blown away by the response and following this site has generated in just over three months, but that’s no reason to sit back and put things on cruise control. We strive to adhere to the mantra that if you aren’t trying to improve, you’re getting worse. The above provides more evidence of that and I hope you will stick with us as we continue to evolve.
While we work through some of these adjustments, rest assured that our regular daily columns will continue to appear as they have since day one.
