Indians Choo Charged with DUI

The Cleveland Indians have announced that outfielder Shin-Soo Choo was arrested early Monday morning under suspicion of driving under the influence.  The outfielder has been charged with DUI, with reports citing that he blew over twice the legal limit of .08.

Choo was pulled over Monday at 2:25 a.m. after police noticed his car swerving back and forth across the road.

Choo is currently with the team in Oakland as they begin a west coast road trip.

The South Korean native has been a part of a surprising Cleveland Indians club.  With the help of Choo, the team has been able to score the 3rd most runs in the league and maintain a .272 batting average which ranks 4th overall.

The club issued a statement concerning the situation.

"“We are aware of the incident with Shin-Soo Choo and have spoken to him about it. The Indians organization takes these issues very seriously and we are disappointed in the matter.  We will continue to monitor the situation and we will not have any further comment at this time.”"

DUIs have been a major issue for the league this year; we’ve only made it to May and already there have been six cases including Choo’s.  Other players involved in arrests have been Derek Lowe, Coco Crisp, Miguel Cabrera, Adam Kennedy and Choo’s teammate Austin Kearns.
