Hanley Hoping for Tuesday Return

Well that was quick.

It seems like just yesterday we were talking about Hanley Ramirez hitting the DL.  That may be because it was only two days ago that the move was made official.

Florida is now hoping that their All-Star shortstop can return to action for the club next Tuesday.  The quick turnaround is due to the DL assignment being retroactive to May 30th.  This is what qualifies Ramirez’s seemingly quick June 14th return.

Before he makes it back with the big club, the 27 year old may have to see some minor league action.

Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez told reporters that Ramirez could join the club’s single-A affiliate this weekend to work on getting his timing back.  Before they start thinking rehab start though, the team will make sure Hanley is feeling completely better physically.

This is a quick turnaround indeed, when two days ago Rodriguez admitted that not even Ramirez knew when he would be able to return.  Ramirez told reporters that the injury that has resulted in the DL stint caused him the worst pain he’s ever had in his life.

Ramirez was able to participate in his first baseball related activities since May Wednesday when he hit off a tee and played catch.
