Sanchez Dislocates Shoulder; Giants Sign Hall

The San Francisco Giants have taken yet another injury hit.  Second baseman Freddy Sanchez dislocated his right shoulder diving for a groundball in last night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds.

You can watch the injury here, Sanchez laying out for a sharp grounder up the middle off the bat of Brandon Phillips.

Sanchez is almost guaranteed to hit the disabled list, an addition to the long list of Giants injury related roster casualties.  San Fran’s manager Bruce Bochy was understandably frustrated after losing yet another starter.

"“It’s never good news to lose a player the caliber of Freddy, which adds up what kind of year it’s been for us DL-wise. You can’t replace a guy like Freddy. He’s been the most consistent guy on the team on both sides. To see him go down putting in a total effort, like he does every night, is tough to swallow.”"

San Francisco wasted little time finding a replacement for Sanchez.  The team announced it will sign recently released infielder Bill Hall.

The Houston Astros cut ties with Hall last week after the second baseman only managed a line of .224/.272/.340 in 46 games with the club this season.

Offensively, the Giants rank among the worst in the league.  Injuries have played a large role as the lineup is currently lacking key members Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval.  The team hopes Sandoval will return shortly, but Posey is likely done for the year.
