Ramirez to Return Tuesday; Bat Leadoff

It appears the Marlins are taking a page out of the playbook of their neighbor, the Rays.

Florida manager Edwin Rodriguez noted that there’s “a big chance” Hanley Ramirez will bat leadoff for the Marlins when he returns from the disabled list Tuesday.

This will be a little more conventional than Rays manager Joe Maddon batting slugger Evan Longoria leadoff when he returned from his oblique injury.  Before he became settled into Florida’s three spot, Ramirez was the team’s leadoff hitter.

Ramirez, who last played May 29th, has been sidelined by a back strain.  The 27 year old is anxious to be back with the club.

"“It’s hard being out for one game. 15 days without being on the field doesn’t feel good, doesn’t feel right. But it’s in the past now. My back is better now and I’m going to be able to compete out there.”"

Florida is certainly in need of some kind of boost, and hopes Ramirez can give the club a spark offensively.  After their 5-1 loss to the Diamondbacks Sunday, the Marlins have lost 10 of 11 games to drop back to .500.  They currently sit in third place in the NL East.
