Indians Choo Out 8-10 Weeks

Shin-Soo Choo underwent successful surgery this morning on his injured left thumb.  The right fielder will be sidelined for at least 8 to 10 weeks.

The procedure was performed by a hand specialist who inserted a screw and metal plate into Choo’s hand to secure the fracture.

Cleveland is using the word if and not when while talking about the 28 year old’s return.  If all goes right with recovery and rehab, the Tribe may have Choo back by late August or early September.

Choo was injured last Friday when he was hit in the hand by a Jonathan Sanchez pitch.  He took a line of .244/.333/.353 with him to the disabled list.

Travis Buck was recalled to replace Choo on the Indians’ roster, and the team is using him along with Austin Kearns and Shelley Duncan to fill their right field void.
