After all of the media attention Alex Rodriguez received over the past few days for his off the field issues, fans were reminded that the slugger is actually still a baseball player. Rodriguez is progressing through his rehab process which has gotten off to a very successful start.
"“The first two days have been good,” said Rodriguez. “Again, I think it’s how I feel when I wake up, how the body reacts in a week or so, but the first two days have been good, and we’ll just go from there.”"
Rodriguez’s workout consisted of some time in the batting cage as well as infield work. After stretching, A-Rod took grounders before hitting off a tee and finishing with a round of soft toss.
While the next step in his rehab process will be determined by how his body feels after the increased level of activity, Rodriguez is certainly satisfied with the progress he has made since resuming baseball related activities yesterday.
Earlier in the week, Yankees manager Joe Girardi expressed the organization’s belief that once Rodriguez was able to return to the field and get back to baseball, it wouldn’t take an extended minor league rehab stint to get him back in the team’s lineup.
New York has projected that A-Rod will rejoin the club sometime towards the end of August and will likely announce his minor league schedule after this weekend.
