Dan Uggla Breaks Atlanta Record with 32 Game Streak

Thursday’s off day had no cooling effect on Braves’ second baseman Dan Uggla, as he was able to return to action Friday and pick up just where he left off.

Uggla extended his hit streak to 32 games with a 3 for 3 effort against the Chicago Cubs.  In doing so, the 31 year old set the Atlanta record for longest such streak, and will now fix his attention to the franchise record of 37 consecutive games held by Tommy Holmes.

While Uggla also went 3-3 Wednesday night, the slugger added a little flare to his box score last evening.  After taking the second pitch he saw from Carlos Zambrano deep  to center, Uggla padded his stats with another home run off of Big Z and wrapped up the night with a single.

With Friday’s numbers, Uggla has now raised his stat line from .173/.214/.327 when the streak began to a current clip of .229/.294/.445.
