The Cleveland Indians’ injury woes continued Friday, as the club placed a pair of starters on the disabled list.  Josh Tomlin is dealing with soreness in his right elbow while Michael Brantley’s right wrist has sidelined him.

Brantley last played for the Indians Monday night, as the wrist has caused him to miss several games this month.  The 24 year old has been solid for the Tribe this season, batting .266 with 35 extra base hits, 46 RBI’s and 63 runs scored.

Tomlin started for the Indians Wednesday night when he was beaten up by the Mariners.  Seattle scored 6 runs on 11 hit off of Tomlin, who walked 1 and struck out 6.  Tomlin leads the Indians with 12 wins and has an ERA of 4.25 over his 26 starts this season.

After accepting a trade to Cleveland yesterday, Jim Thome was added to the roster to take up one of the vacant spots.  Nick Hagadone was called up to fill the other.

A former top prospect, Hagadone came over to the Indians in the trade that sent Victor Martinez to the Red Sox.  2011 has been the 25 year old’s first season primarily as a reliever.  Hagadone has made all 44 of his appearances out of the pen this year, posting a 2.65 ERA with 74 strike outs in 68 innings pitched between Double and Triple-A.
