Adrian Beltre is set to join the Texas Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate Monday to begin his Minor League rehab assignment. Beltre has been out since July 22nd while nursing a strained left hamstring.
During his last game with the Rangers, Beltre pulled up attempting to go from first to third. Beltre was forced to leave the game and an MRI later revealed a Grade 1 strain.
Texas originally estimated they’d be without Beltre for only 2 to 3 weeks, but the slugger faced a setback. Beltre aggravated the injury, again on the base paths, the first week of August while testing the hamstring.
Beltre was nearing a Minor League assignment when he re-injured the leg. Instead he was forced back to square one of the rehab process.
At this point, Texas’s number one goal is to have Beltre remain healthy and rejoin the club for their pennant race. The Rangers are hoping the setback showed Beltre just how careful he needs to be with his hamstring.
Over his 100 games this season, Beltre has posted a line of .276/.318/.505 with 20 home runs, 29 doubles and 76 RBI’s. When he hit the DL in July, Beltre was at or near the top of several of the Rangers’ offensive categories.
