Stephen Strasburg finished up his Minor League rehab assignment in dominant fashion last night, tossing a 1 hit shutout over his 6 innings of work.
Pitching for the Double-A Harrisburg Senators, Strasburg lit up the radar gun, touching 99 MPH with his fastball. Strasburg threw 53 of his 70 pitches for strikes and K’d 4 on the night.
Strasburg once again held a no-no over several innings. It took until the 6th inning for Strasburg to surrender his one and only hit of the night.
Over his 6 starts in the Minors while on assignment, Strasburg has logged a total of 20.1 innings and has allowed 8 earned runs over that span, good for a 3.45 ERA. The right-hander’s control has been videogame-like, as Strasburg has struck out 29 in that span while only surrendering 3 free passes.
If you only look at his two most recent outings, the numbers are even more impressive. Facing Double and Triple-A talent, Strasburg has held the opposition to 1 earned run over 11 innings with 3 hits, 11 strike outs and no walks.
Needless to say, it looks like Strasburg is ready for his 2011 Major League debut. Washington announced that Strasburg will take the hill for them Tuesday when they face off against the Dodgers.
