2011 S2S Pioneer League All-Star Team

facebooktwitterreddit

Right off the bat I will freely admit that the timing of this article may seem a bit “odd.” Given that the 2012 season has been underway for about a month for the full season minor leagues it is poorly timed. Then again the 2012 Pioneer League season doesn’t kick off for another month and a half … so there’s that.

The naming of the 2011 S2S Pioneer League All-Stars was originally supposed to take place during the offseason and more specifically over the course of November and December. James’ departure from our staff, however, changed those plans. I had to delay my plans for the Pioneer League to work on the FSL All-Star Team project that James was leaving unfinished*.

*If you’re a really dedicated reader then you’re aware I still have two more articles to write up for that series and while those will be even more poorly timed – and basically just for posterity at this point – I do intend to finish them up soon.

No one likes loose ends and when I have too many of them floating around my writing motivation starts to go into stasis. After a very chaotic month of April it’s time for me to tie up some of the loose ends that I can control and naming this team seems like the logical place to start. After all, it is one of the oldest planned projects on my list and I did all the research and preparation for it back in October.

As much as I’d like to dedicate an extensive article to each player selected here, we’re not in the offseason anymore so it seems more prudent to reveal the entire team all at once with the some basic info and stats. This will of course break with the way we handled both the Florida State and South Atlantic All-Star Teams but as we’re all too painfully aware there are only so many hours in each day.

Without further ado – and after a nearly 6 month delay – I’d like to officially reveal the 2011 Seedlings to Stars Pioneer League All-Star Team. Seven of the eight teams in the league are represented with only the Helena Brewers missing out. Orem and Idaho Falls comprise almost half of the 17 player roster with four players from each team getting the nod.
