Quick Mock Draft Comparison: Baseball America and Seedlings to Stars

Jim Callis published his first 2012 MLB Mock Draft today so I thought it would be a fun exercise to compare Baseball America’s with the most recent S2S version. Naturally things have changed greatly since Robbie published our first mock on February 27th but Scott dropped his just 8 days ago so the latter version exists in a similar window of time. Of course if you are familiar our site’s second mock draft you know that it includes the selections that Robbie made in the first version.

Some advance notice before proceeding … if you are looking for analysis or insight from yours truly on these picks, you’re going to be disappointed. Really all I am doing in this post is putting the picks side-by-side to see how they stack up.

The two mocks match up in four places with Appel to the Astros (#1), Zunino to the Mariners (#3), Fried to the Athletics (#11) and Heaney to the Indians (#15). If the Twins wind up with Buxton 2nd overall as Baseball America is projecting and the Royals gamble on Giolito as Scott predicts, it would go a long way toward making the current season more bearable for yours truly.

If you can’t get enough mock draft information, Robbie will be dropping our 3rd mock draft in the coming weeks. I am also planning some draft related content but my upcoming articles will shift the focus from the present/future to drafts of the past.
