Former Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees OF Chad Curtis Has Hearing Date

According to the Associated Press, former Tigers outfielder Chad Curtis has a hearing set for June 22nd to determine

if there is enough probable cause for him to stand trial for the charges of sexual assault against him.  Curtis is charged with five counts of criminal sexual conduct.  It is alleged that he inappropriately touched two female students at the Michigan high school in which he worked and was in line to coach to the football team.

Curtis played for six teams in his ten year career including two seasons for the Tigers.  In his Major League career, Curtis hit .264/.349/.396 with 101 home runs.  He retired with the Texas Rangers after the 2001 season.  His best season came in 1995 where he managed a career high 670 plate appearances, hit 21 home runs and drove in 67 RBI for the Tigers.

The sexual assault charges stem from a May 24th arraignment after two teen girls accused the Lakewood High School volunteer of touching them.

Curtis won two World Series rings while playing with the Yankees.  He also appeared in the postseason while playing for the Dodgers in 1996.
