Rosenthal: Brett Gardner Suffers Set Back

Early today I relayed news of Brett Gardner’s impending return to the New York

Yankees next week. It seems that may have been wishful thinking for Yankees fans out there. Ken Rosenthal reported via Twitter that Gardner suffered a set back in his sore right elbow last night.

Rosenthal went on to say Gardner will see team doctors on Monday to determine the extent of the setback. Gardner was playing for the Charleston River Dogs and went 1 for 3 last night with a steal. It is not immediately known how the setback occurred, but it stands to reason the steal of second could have been a factor.

Gardner was planning a return to the Yankees lineup next week after being out since early this year. Raul Ibanez and Dewayne Wise have been sharing time in left during Gardner’s absence.
