Former Giants’ Second Baseman Jeff Kent Could Be On Survivor
Jeff Kent always came off as a tough guy. He was not always personable, but he played through pain, he
hustled, and he put together some good seasons with the Giants. Now, according to Richard Griffin of the Toronto Star, Kent is on the participant list for the next season of Survivor.
Jeff Kent played 17 seasons before retiring in 2008. He played for six different teams, but he is most remembered for his time in San Francisco . He played six seasons with the Giants and won the National League MVP with them in 2000. Kent was a five-time All-Star and was one of the better second basemen in the league for a long stretch of time.
In his career, Kent hit .290/.356/.500. He hit 377 home runs – which is a lot for a second baseman. In his MVP campaign of 2000, Kent hit .334/.424/.596 with 33 home runs. He also helped the Giants to the postseason. In his postseason career, Kent played 49 games and hit .276/.340/.500.
Now, with his playing days behind him, it looks like Kent is still trying to find ways to compete. Survivor Net, a Survivor fan rumors site has Jeff Kent listed as a new contestant for the upcoming season taking place in the Philippines.
Considering the drama between Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds in the Giants clubhouse and dugout, he would make a great contestant for the show that is as much about “surviving” the elements as it is about surviving the drama.
