Schumaker, a left handed hitter, has had good success versus righties, but does struggle when facing southpaws. He’s versatile, with extensive experience at second base as well as all three outfield positions. Schumaker also owns a career .346 on base percentage, so he’s certainly a useful piece to have on anyone’s bench, especially a National League club.

Schumaker has a good relationship with former Cardinals hitting coach Mark McGwire, who was hired by the Dodger to the same position earlier this off-season. Schumaker will earn just $1.5 million in2013, and will be eligible for free agency following the year.
