Pitcher of the Year Anthony Ranaudo, Portland (BOS)
Ranaudo dropped off the radar after and injury-riddled and ineffective 2012, but the 6-foot-7 right-hander figures to pop back up on prospect lists after a huge comeback year. He earned himself a late-season promotion to Triple-A after posting a 2.95 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 109 2/3 innings with the Sea Dogs. The 39th overall pick of the 2010 Draft, Ranaudo already had to make one comeback after injuring his elbow as a college junior. Ranaudo is celebrating his 24th birthday today.
Most Valuable Player Allan Dykstra, Binghamton (NYM)
Dykstra (no relation to former Phillie Lenny Dykstra) had his best season as a pro, leading the EL in on-base percentage (.436) and walks (102). But it’s not just the advanced approach that made Dykstra stand out in 2013, he also did his share of damage. Dykstra hit 21 home runs, slugged over .500 and drove in 82 runs. The first baseman was originally drafted by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 2008 Draft, Dykstra was traded to the Mets back in 2011 for Eddie Kunz, who never threw a pitch in the Padres’ system.
