Oakland Athletics v Detroit Tigers, Game 4: Starters, Start Time, TV Info
Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports
Some fireworks toward the end of Game 3 between the Oakland A’s and Detroit Tigers will provide an intriguing backdrop for Game 4. Will we see the Grant Balfour–Victor Martinez matchup again? Will the game be on the line? Will any shenanigans occur during the early stages of the game?
The A’s won 6-3 on the the strength of three home runs. Can the Tigers bounce back at force a Game 5? They are at Comerica where they won the third most home games (51) in the AL. Oakland did post the AL’s second best road record at 44-37 (tied with Boston).
Here’s your game information for today’s potentially volatile affair.
Date: Tuesday, October 8th
Start Time: 5:00 PM EST
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Venue: Comerica Park
TV Info: TBS
Radio Info: ESPN Radio, 97.1 The Ticket (DET), 95.7 FM The Game (OAK)
Live Stream: MLB.tv or the MLB at Bat 12 App.
The Athletics give the ball to Dan Straily (10-8, 3.96 ERA, 1.241 WHIP). He’s not as comfortable on the road (BAA of .250) as he is at O.co Colosseum (.211). Of the 16 home runs Straily permitted, 10 came away from there. What might be the bright spot is that Straily had an excellent September where opponents managed only a .163 batting average when facing him.
Jim Leyland hopes that his starter Doug Fister can keep the Tigers in the postseason. If so, Fister will have to pitch better than he has over the past couple of months. He is 5-4 with an ERA of 3.67 and a WHIP of 1.507. The ERA isn’t too shabby, but over this stretch opponents have posted a triple slash of .313/.360/.409 against him.
Then there was this tweet…
