The Mesa Solar Sox benefited from a slew of strong pitching performances in a 6-1 win over the Peoria Javelinas. Mesa starter Matt Purke was outstanding, going four hitless innings and walking one and striking out seven. Blaine Hardy gave up the one run on two hits with three strikeouts over three innings and Seth Frankoff, Omar Duran and Robert Benincasa combined for the final three innings. The Solar Sox relied on the long ball to score the runs and C.J. Cron led the way with a three-for-four game that included a home run and two RBI. Also going deep were Matt Skole, Devon Travis and Tyler Collins. Brian Goodwin went two for four for Mesa.
For Peoria, most of the damage was done against Angel Baez who relieved starter Johnny Barbato and gave up three home runs in one inning. Keyvius Sampson and Dominic Leone threw two scoreless innings each. The Javelinas only had three hits as a club with Cameron Perkins hitting a double and Orlando Calixte hitting a triple.
