Five was the number of the day in a 5-5, 11-inning tie between the Glendale Desert Dogs and the Surprise Saguaros. The teams combined for five home runs in a game that highlighted some prime prospects on both sides. For Glendale, top prospect Byron Buxton blasted a home run while Corey Seager and Jared Mitchell also went deep. For Mitchell, it was a three-for-four performance that also included a walk and a stolen base. Buxon, Seager and leadoff man Brent Keys each had a pair of hits while Keys added a walk and a stolen base. Glendale starter Andrew Heaney was excellent, pitching four innings, giving up no runs, three hits and two walks and striking out five batters. Zack Jones took the brunt of the damage, giving up both of Surprise’s home runs in the course of surrendering four runs in just two-thirds of an inning. Charlie Leesman pitched two perfect innings to close the game for the Desert Dogs, striking out two.

For Surprise, it was Baltimore prospect Henry Urrutia and Texas’s Brett Nicholas who left the yard. Both only had the one hit but Urrutia added a walk. Adam Weisenburger was the only man with two hits for the club. Boston prospect Mookie Betts went one for five with a walk and stole three bases.
