Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Has His Own Baseball Reference Page

Everyone is finding ways to show their holiday spirit, even websites dedicated to baseball stats. The gang at Baseball-Reference.com came up with a rather marvelous way of getting in tune with the yuletide vibe. They created a page dedicated to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and it’s cute as hell.

As we learn from the profile page, Rudolph Claus Blitzensen was born December 26, 2006 in Upper Greenland. He was signed to the Factory League as an amateur free agent in 2008 but spent that first year on the bench because he wasn’t allowed to play in any reindeer games.

Rudolph toiled in Toyville of the Arctic League for three years before signing as a free agent with the North Pole Reindeer of the Holiday League. In 2013, Rudolph batted .312 with 12 homers and 79 RBI. So he’s got a solid stroke but he power numbers still haven’t come around. Maybe next year will be the bust-out season for Rudolph.

Rudolph’s nicknames are Mr. December and Red. His similarity scores say he is most like Rob Deer, J.T. Snow and Dasher Troy. His page is sponsored by his pal Yukon Cornelius.

If that doesn’t get you into the mood to hang some decorations and chug some egg nog while watching old re runs of This Week in Baseball with Mel Allen, nothing will.
