Alex Rodriguez is ready to burn all his bridges and be paid handsomely for his efforts. The New York Post’s Page Six reports that Rodriguez is currently shopping a tell-all book around town, and that a bidding war may ensue that could push A-Rod’s fee to over $5 million.
HarperCollins and Random House are just two of the big-time publishers reported to be interested in buying A-Rod’s book.
But a book isn’t enough for A-Rod. The baseball player, slum-lord and fine-mythologically-themed-art aficionado is also reportedly putting together a “3o for 30”-type documentary about his “battle to stay on the field.” Rodriguez is pursuing Cocaine Cowboys creator Billy Corben to direct, I guess because Martin Scorsese is all booked up?
Quick brainstorming session on A-Rod documentary titles…Alex Rodriguez vs. Bud Selig? I think we have our winner.
A source has given a vague outline of what Rodriguez’s book will have in it. “This book is going to go into the real low-down dirt of MLB tactics and collusion with the Yankees to get him out of the game.”
The Conspiracy Against Alex Rodriguez (with a foreword by Mike Francesa). Should be a riveting read. I’ll put it on my list right after “every book ever published in English and other languages I haven’t learned yet.”
