Craig Biggio

Biggio played his entire career (20 seasons) with the Houston Astros and that in itself is remarkable. However, Biggio was for a good 15 years, one of the most consistent hitters in the National League. He finished in the Top-5 of the MVP voting twice (1997 and ’98) and was a seven-time All-Star. In his final season he earned his 3,000th career hit (he finished with 3,060) and he is fifth all-time with 668 doubles. The second baseman also had quiet power as he hit 291 homers. Only Hughie Jennings (1891-1918) was hit by a pitch more often in baseball history. Biggio was very durable, he played in 2,850 games in his career and played primarily the same position his entire stint in the majors. Biggio was close to Hall of Fame induction last year (68.2%), but he may have to wait another year considering this years’ ballot; however, he should get in someday.
