The Baltimore Orioles have named their 2014 minor league staff. Joining the organization as roving instructors are former Oriole Jeff Manto as a hitting instructor, Dave Anderson as an infield instructor and Scott Beerer as an outfield/baserunning instructor.

In Triple-A Norfolk, they’ll bring back their entire staff with manager Ron Johnson, pitching coach Mike Griffin, hitting coach Denny Walling and field coach Jose Hernandez all returning.

Other managers include Garry Kendall (Double-A Bowie), Luis Pujols (High-A Frederick), Ryan Minor (Class-A Delmarva), Matt Merullo (Short-Season A Aberdeen) and Orlando Gomez (GCL Orioles). Pujols and Minor are actually switching positions from last year although Minor had managed in Delmarva from 2010-2012.

There are a lot of returning coaches on the pitching side with Blaine Beatty coming back to Bowie, Kennie Steenstra sticking around with Frederick while Alan Mills moves up in the organization from Aberdeen to Delmarva and Justin Lord moves down from Delmarva to Aberdeen. Former White Sox pitcher Wilson Alvarez will be the pitching coach for the GCL Orioles.

Some of the teams don’t have “hitting coaches” per se but use the title “field coach.” Butch Davis has that position in Bowie while Torre Tyson is the hitting coach in Frederick. In Delmarva, Paco Figueroa becomes the field coach in his first season coaching in professional baseball and Milt May will be the hitting coach in the GCL while Ramon Sambo has the role of field coach. A field coach for Aberdeen has not yet been named.

In the Dominican Republic, the Orioles will have two teams playing out of their complex under Nelson Norman who is the club’s director of Dominican baseball operations and manager of one of the two teams. Elvis Morel will manage the other while pitching coaches Robert Perez and Dionis Pascaul will be active with Benny Adames (hitting coach), Ramon Caraballo (field supervisor), Ramon Lubo (catching coach) and Ruben Francisco (field coach).
