Carlos Marmol and his wicked, uncontrollable slider are reportedly closing in on a deal with…someone.

The former Cubs closer, who finished out last year with the Dodgers after being jettisoned by Chicago, has interest from three teams, according to Jon Heyman.

No idea who the three teams are but I’m guessing one of them isn’t the Cubs. The Brewers maybe?

In all fairness, Marmol’s numbers with the Dodgers last year weren’t complete terrible. In 21 appearances, the erratic reliever posted a 2.53 ERA and a 1.547 WHIP, with 27 Ks in 21 innings. And 19 walks, 3 wild pitches and a hit batter. Because he’s Carlos Marmol.

The stuff has never been in question for Marmol, only the control. As long as the stuff is still there, teams will keep giving Marmol a look, hoping he can become the consistently dominating reliever he never became in Chicago.

He is 31 now however, and at that age, is it realistic to expect he will suddenly find it? He should have found it by now, you would think.
