The Rangers’ A-ball affiliate Myrtle Beach Pelicans really want Russell Wilson to play for them. The Pelicans say, if Wilson plays just one game for them at second base, they’ll donate $10,000 to the charity of his choice.

That’s a lot of money for a minor league team to throw around.

And don’t go thinking this is just some publicity stunt by Myrtle Beach. They are deadly serious. They even made a video spoofing the movie Cast Away, just to show how serious they are.

Most uninhabited desert islands have tire tracks all over the beach.

We’ll see if Russell Wilson bites on this deal. So far he only says he will show up for Rangers spring training, but who knows? Maybe being around baseball again will give him the itch. Maybe he’ll take up Myrtle Beach on their offer.
