Nelson Cruz is probably going to Seattle, and it’s possible he may even get a multi-year deal. It’s not out of the question that Cruz could get a guaranteed three years in Seattle, according to Jon Heyman.

Cruz and Seattle have been circling each other for awhile, like two shy kids at the high school dance, and now it seems both sides have snuck enough booze to finally work up the nerve and boogie down on the dance floor.

Cruz is 33 and coming off a .266/.327/.506 season in Texas. He made $10.5 million last year with the Rangers. Crazy reports earlier in the offseason said Cruz had already turned down a 5-year/$75 million offer from the Mariners.

Seattle made the biggest splash of the offseason when they signed Robinson Cano to a 10-year deal worth all the money, but that still left them with a huge need for more power in their lineup.

Corey Hart was picked up on a one-year show-me deal, but that still did not fill the power gap. Cruz would go a long way toward filling that gap, but he won’t give you much else beyond the odd dinger.
