Bill Chuck did this fun breakdown for Gammons Daily of the MLB wins leaders during each presidential administration.
Guess which pitcher has won the most games during the Obama administration.
Justin Verlander with 91. Not a hard guess.
Now, guess who won the most games during the George W. Bush administration.
It’s the recently retired Roy Oswalt, who won 137 during the 8 years of the GWB presidency.
Greg Maddux leading the way in wins during the Bill Clinton presidency, also an easy guess.
Most of these are fairly easy if you know your baseball history.
A couple are tough though. Guess who won the most games during the Warren G. Harding administration.
Okay it’s spoiled in the headline. It’s Yankees pitcher Urban Shocker, who tallied 71 wins while Harding was president.
It’s a cool list and a fun way to look at the last 100-or-so years in presidential and baseball history. Thanks Bill Chuck for putting it together.
(Oh BTW, Chuck also did a breakdown of home runs leaders by administration. Sammy Sosa had 413 homers during the Clinton years!)
