Pitching

Reliever

  1. Joakim Soria – Texas Rangers (2, 21) Though he hasn’t neared his outstanding season in 2010 with the Royals (1.78 ERA, 43 saves, 10th in Cy Young voting), Soria continued to be solid out of the pen for the Rangers.  Not a closer anymore, Soria appeared in 26 games (missed much of season due to injury) and posted a 3.80 ERA.  He’s not lights-out anymore, but still a formidable presence.
  2. Ryan Cook – Oakland Athletics (3, 23)
  3. Danny Farquhar – Seattle Mariners (4, 27)
  4. Joe Smith – Los Angeles Angels (1, 33)
  5. Matt Albers – Houston Astros (0, 46)

Closer

  1. Fernando Rodney – Seattle Mariners (4, 21)  Rodney is no spring chicken anymore (age 36), but Seattle thought he’s good enough to give 2-years, $14 million for his services.  Don’t expect a repeat of his 2012 campaign for Tampa Bay (0.60 ERA, 48 saves), but the veteran is proven and will be a nice addition to Seattle’s bullpen.
  2. Jim Johnson – Oakland Athletics (3, 24)
  3. Neftali Feliz – Texas Rangers (2, 25)
  4. Ernesto Frieri – Los Angeles Angels (1, 34)
  5. Chad Qualls – Houston Astros (0, 44)

Starters – All teams included

  1. Felix Hernandez – Seattle Mariners (7 first place votes) King Felix has been in the league for nine years and is still only 27 years old.  Following another season with an ERA just above 3.00 and a perfect game,  Hernandez hopes the additions to the lineup the Mariners made will translate into more victories for his stat line.  Though he’s been spectacular since he entered the league, Hernandez has only finished with more than 14 wins once (19 in 2009).

  1. Yu Darvish – Texas Rangers (3)
  2. Jered Weaver – Los Angeles Angels
  3. C.J. Wilson – Los Angeles Angels
  4. Jarrod Parker – Oakland Athletics
  5. Hisashi Iwakuma – Seattle Mariners
  6. Sonny Gray – Oakland Athletics
