The old saying goes, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
Instead of that, from now on I’m going to say, “When life gives you a Tommy John surgery scar, make a smiley face tattoo.”
Just like Joba Chamberlain did.

Joba has symbolically turned the page on the first act of his career, in more ways than one.
He turned his surgery scar into a happy tattoo. He grew facial hair. He lost some weight.
Now he’s in Detroit, reportedly hitting 98 on the gun.
The new Joba may not be any better than the old Joba, when all is said and done, but he’s working at it.
He’s trying to turn the Tommy John scar of his career into a smiley face tattoo.
