The Rockies’ Charlie Blackmon had himself a heck of a night Friday night against the Diamondbacks.
How’s this for a statline? 6-for-6 with 3 doubles, a homer, four runs scored and five RBI.
That’ll get it done.
And what did the Rockies’ new hero centerfielder receive in commemoration of his rare accomplishment?
This piece of crap.
The “5 def” refers to Blackmon’s five put-outs in five chances. Because defense matters.
You know what doesn’t matter to the Rockies players who bestowed this memento on Charlie Blackmon? Craftsmanship.
I realize it was hastily slapped together right after the game, but still. Whoever did that should be ashamed.
A kindergartner could have done better.
Being in a hurry doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice quality. Just ask Ron Swanson. He once made a cigar box in under ten minutes, and it was just as fine and perfectly crafted as one he had labored over for decades.
That baseball case, that’s just an embarrassment.
But the cheapness of that memento doesn’t detract from Charlie Blackmon’s great night. Go get ’em, Chuck.
