It was almost a Cain and Abel situation Monday night in Philadelphia. Or something along those lines.
The Braves’ Justin Upton was at the plate with his brother B.J. at third. Justin hit a solid smash up the line that came close to taking B.J. out.
B.J. clearly was not happy with Justin’s attempt to drive a baseball through his temple.
As you saw, third base coach Doug Dascenzo actually came closer to being hit than B.J. Upton.
Thankfully Dascenzo still has those reflexes that served him so well as a Cubs utility man and occasional blow out relief pitcher.
It’s fine if B.J. and Justin want to play out some weird murderous sibling rivalry on the field by taking shots at each other’s heads with line drives, but please, leave Doug Dascenzo out of it.
Doug Dascenzo never did anything to any member of the Upton family.
