Minor League Baseball tends to have one epic ejection every year and it appears we have already been treated to it.

Quintin Berry in in his ninth year of professional baseball, and with his seventh organization. He spent part of 2012 and part of 2013 in the big leagues with the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox as a speed first outfielder.

Berry is currently with the Baltimore Orioles Triple-A affiliate, the Norfolk Tides, who were facing off against the Washington Nationals affiliate, the Syracuse Chiefs. In the ninth inning, in Berry’s fifth trip to the plate, he hit a sharp grounder through the left side of the infield for his first hit of the day.

Clearly he had some issues with the umpires in the game because after the ball was thrown back in by the defense; Berry got into an argument with an umpire and found himself tossed from the game. Instead of arguing his point or heading back for the dugout, Berry did what he does best, he ran the bases.

Yes, Berry got thrown out of the game, so he started jogging toward second, rounded the bag and headed for third where he rounded that bag and headed for home. As he came to the plate, he slid through home, made one final gesture and hollers back at the umpire and headed straight to the clubhouse. The announcers were understandably confused, but summed it up perfectly as Berry reaches the dugout steps by simply saying, “He’s leaving”.
