Week in Review: Nine Eastern League Players Selected for Futures Game
The talk across Minor League Baseball on Tuesday is all about the MLB Futures Game rosters, and the Eastern League is set to send nine players to the game. The biggest names from the league that will get their chance to shine at Target Field in July are Henry Owens and Fransicso Lindor. Lindor is hitting .281 this season and has two of his six home runs in the past five games. Owens have been one of the best pitchers in all of the minors this season as he has an ERA below 2, a 9-3 record, and is striking out more than a batter an inning. He has given up a single run in two of his past seven starts, with the other five he escaped without allowing a single run.
A Futures Game veteran, Jesse Biddle, has not had the best season and his last outing was his worst thus far. He made it through just three innings on Monday while allowing ten runs. This came just three games after he gave up seven runs in 2.1 innings, and five unearned, just two earned, over 3.1 innings two outings ago.

Zach Davies of the Bowie Baysox is the most recent pitcher of the week in the Eastern League as he has not allowed a run in his past 13 innings and only given up three hits. Meanwhile the reigning position player of the week is the slick fielding Deven Marrero of the Portland Sea Dogs. Marrero has hit .441 over his past ten games, but most have been singles, as only three of his 15 hits went for extra bases.
Michael Taylor of the Harrisburg Senators is continuing his strong season that will see him in the Futures Game this July, as he has been on pace with his .332 season average over the past week. His power stroke has not been working lately, as he has hit just one home run this week, but he still sits second in the league with 17 on the year.
Portland still holds a strong lead in the Eastern Division, but the West sees Richmond just mere percentage points ahead of Akron coming into Tuesday.
