It’s hard to say who the Yankees would be willing to trade but according to the Astros’ leaked information it appears that anyone who wants Ichiro can have him and the Yankees will pay part of his salary. That’s kind of crazy but they’ve done it before, like in 2002 when David Justice moved to the Athletics, and that is just one example. So here’s some speculation on who they might be willing to part with or are pushing to part with.

1. Ichiro Suzuki is a star, no doubt, but an aging one. The 2001 Rookie of the Year and A.L. MVP is now 40-years old. Granted he is still hitting .291 this season but the Yankees seem ready to part with him. He only has 10 RBI on the year and has yet to hit a home run. Although Ichiro is known more for his speed and his arm the Yankees are looking for someone to help them score more runs and it doesn’t appear Ichiro fits into that mold anymore.

2. Alfonso Soriano has been struggling at the plate yet overall he has a good reputation and has put up good numbers in the past. He might be inviting to some teams looking for some outfield or infield help but not necessarily a bat. He is batting .233 according to Bleacher Report, which is not preferable but I am hard pressed to find other players the Yankees would be willing to let go.

3. Even though the Yankees acquired Brian Roberts via free agency from the Baltimore Orioles this season his play has been lackluster. The 36-year old infielder is batting .236 with just four home runs and only 17 RBI halfway through the season. Those are not exactly the numbers that the Yankees thought that they would be getting from him and would likely happily part ways with the infielder.
