Who could be targeted:

1. Huston Street

The Padres have made it known that most of their roster is available and Street has been enjoying a solid season as the closer in San Diego. Detroit has a need at the back of their bullpen. The fit seems almost too easy. Street is earning just $7 Million this season and his contract includes a team option for 2015 at the same rate. If they were so inclined, the Tigers could have him beyond the rest of this season.

2. Carlos Corporan

Corporan doesn’t bring a ton of offensive firepower to the mix, but he’s been a reliable backup in Houston for the past few seasons. There aren’t many big name catchers who could be available at the deadline, so perhaps upgrading the options off the bench could be a better use of their resources for Detroit.

3. Elvis Andrus

It doesn’t seem likely that the Rangers will want to deal with the Tigers again so soon, considering how lopsided the Kinsler/Prince Fielder trade appears to be working out thus far. Andrus could be available, however, and if the Tigers are willing to part with enough they could resolve their shortstop issues for the next few years. Or, if willing to just simply take on most of the remaining salary, the player-cost may end up being relatively cheap. As an added bonus, Andrus and Kinsler have played together before meaning they will have an easier transition to working together on double plays.
