MLB All Star Game: American League roster announced

Rosters have been announced for next week’s MLB All Star Game and the American League squad will be headlined by six members of the Oakland Athletics, who hold the best record in all of baseball. A trio of Baltimore Orioles were voted in by the fans as starters, though only two will participate in the game.

C: Matt Wieters, Baltimore

1B: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit

2B: Robinson Cano, Seattle

3B: Josh Donaldson, Oakland

SS: Derek Jeter, New York

OF: Jose Bautista, Toronto

OF: Mike Trout, Los Angeles

OF: Adam Jones, Baltimore

DH: Nelson Cruz, Baltimore

Bautista was the overall top vote-getting in both leagues. He received more than 5.6 Million votes. Trout came in second, some 200,000 shy.

Wieters, meanwhile, is out for the season due to Tommy John surgery and will not be participating in the game. Kansas City’s Salvador Perez will start in his place, as he was voted in on the player’s ballot.
