Mike Bianucci spent the first part of the season in the Mexican League, but has returned to the states, and has had a fantastic week for the Los Angeles Angels affiliate, the Arkansas Travelers. Bianucci played 19 games for Arkansas this season and has hit six home runs and is hitting .342. Four of those home runs have come in the past four games, and he is currently riding a nine game hitting streak.
Jason Adam has not had a very good season with Northwest Arkansas, posting a 4-8 record and a 5.14 ERA, but he looks to have turned a corner over his past two starts. He has put in twelve scoreless innings and striking out 11. He allowed seven earned runs in three of his previous eight starts and has been hit very hard, a .302 average and eight home runs, against same sided batters.
Lane Adams, also of Northwest Arkansas, was recently named the Texas League Player of the Month, after hitting seven home runs and stealing nine bags in June, and he has continued his hot streak into July. In five games this month, he has six hits and three runs, but has only put up a single steal and home run.
Joey Gallo is still hitting home runs at an incredible pace, 10 in 27 games at Double-A thus far, but his average is starting to come back down to earth, and his strikeout numbers are sky rocketing. He is hitting .277 since the call up, and has stuck out 49 times already. He has just one home run in the past six games, but he has continued to draw a fair amount of walks.
So far in the second half of the season, there is not a single team over .500 in the North Division, meanwhile there isn’t a single team under .500 in the South Division, even with the San Antonio Missions currently in the midst of a five game losing streak. The best team so far this half is the Midland Rockhounds, with a 14-7 record in the second half and currently riding a nine game winning streak.
