1. Los Angeles Dodgers
Record: 59-47, 1st in NL West
Potential four-man playoff rotation: Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Lester, Josh Beckett/Hyun-jin Ryu

Oh…my…word. Look at that potential rotation. And Don Mattingly and his staff would have decide whether Beckett or Ryu are worthy of being the fourth? Wouldn’t like to make that decision by any means as both truly deserve that spot. (I’d give the nod to Beckett only because he has the more “majestic” postseason experience.)

If the Dodgers could score Lester (and may mercy be given to the other 29 teams), they would be the favorites. Not just in their own division. Not just in the National League. They would be the favorites to win it all. Yes, I would put the Dodgers ahead of the Oakland A’s even though the A’s currently own the best record in baseball.

The name Joc Pederson will be mentioned in any trade discussion, and it should as he would likely be the centerpiece to any potential deal. As far as including Matt Kemp in these talks, Kemp will be brought up by the Dodgers as they would love to find a new home for the seemingly disgruntled outfielder. But could Kemp play center field (as he feels is still a center fielder) at Fenway?

Not seeing that at this point. If Kemp could prove he’s capable of playing center again even though his career defensive metrics suggest he’s not a center fielder, he could be more valuable in another deal (to Seattle, maybe?). Even then, would Boston be willing?
