A couple of divisions might see a slight change over the upcoming weekend. In two series, MLB playoff contenders will square off and should a sweep should occur, the landscape could see a new team atop their respective divisions.

One of those series is the series of all weekend series: the Los Angeles Angels visit O.co to face the Oakland Athletics. This will obviously have a direct effect on the division as the Angels hold a two game ahead over the A’s.

The other will see the Pittsburgh Pirates visit Miller Park to face the Milwaukee Brewers. Now, the Buccos can’t pass Milwaukee (they’re six games back), but another team could sneak into the NL Central’s top spot should the Brewers falter and get swept. More will need to happen elsewhere than just Milwaukee for the Brewers to lose their hold.

There are also a few nice pitching matchups in conjunction with these series. You’ll get the opportunity to see a handful of those that will likely get votes in the Cy Young voting, although they may not get a first-place nod.

We’ll begin in Oakland as the A’s host the Angels.
