In a season the began with much promise and expectations, the 2014 Texas Rangers found themselves as the first team to be officially eliminated from any postseason spot. Of late, the Rangers had been a team that was contending to win the American League West. This season, not even close.

Prior to the start of the 2014 season, Bovada listed the Rangers as the American League West favorites (+175). It wasn’t by any wide margin, in fact, it was a thin one (the Oakland A’s were at +200), but they were poised to once again sit atop the division upon season’s end.

Well, the plan wasn’t quite executed as had hoped. Texas now stands on the verge of posting one of its worst seasons in franchise history. If the Rangers were to lose 100 games in this 2014 season, it would represent the first time the franchise experienced tripe-digits losses since 1973 when they dropped 105 games.

And those Rangers teams when they first moved from DC were pretty awful. They have 16 games remaining and they will have to win nine of those final 16 games in order to avoid a 100-loss season.

Here’s a glimpse back at the Rangers 2014 season. Considering how they will end the year, the next page could be a lot longer than it is.
