Once again, the Pittsburgh Pirates are mending Charlie Morton
Sometimes player get a reputation for being injury prone. We might want to consider putting Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Charlie Morton into that category.
Yesterday, the Pirates starter endured his third surgical procedure within the last four years when the labrum on his right hip was repaired. In October of 2011, Morton had the labrum in his left hip repaired. Then, in June of 2012, Morton required Tommy John surgery. Now, add this one to the list.

The Pirates say the timetable for recovery is six to eight months.
For this season, Morton had started 26 games, posting a 6-12 record with an ERA of 3.72 and a WHIP of 1.271. Morton had just started the September 16th game against the Boston Red Sox. In that start, Morton hurled five shutout innings, allowing only four hits before being removed. After this outing, Morton reported that the condition was worse.
Morton had missed the previous month due to what Morton originally termed as a sports hernia. After a couple of bad starts, Morton was placed on the disabled list in order to make room for Gerrit Cole. Morton had thrown sessions and had thought the hip was not getting better, but also not getting worse. That is, until after his September 16th appearance.
