Los Angeles Dodgers’ GM Ned Colletti is on the hot seat

After a postseason exit brought upon by the Cardinals, questions arose of who would take the blame of the Dodger’s shortcomings.

Not Clayton Kershaw, not Don Mattingly, but the man who brought together the club of so called “underachievers”: Ned Colletti.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

In his past nine years with the Dodgers, four NL West titles have been claimed along with five entrances into the postseason. The Dodger’s early exit from this year’s playoffs came at a high price: $240 million- the highest payroll in Major League Baseball.

Colletti paid for a big bullpen that couldn’t pull through in the offseason. Brian Wilson was working on a $10 million deal with a $10 million player option for next year, after producing a 4.66 ERA and four blown saves in five attempts.

Brandon League, pitching middle reliever in the second year of a three year $22 million contract was another disappointment and not the last one on the list.

Andrew Friedman is believed to be the front runner for Colletti’s position, should he lose it.  Friedman is the current general manager of the Tampa Bay Rays.

After nearly a decade with Los Angeles, Colletti may not make the cut for year ten. Only time this offseason will tell who will be the general manager of the Dodgers for the 2o15 season and beyond.
