Ernie Banks‘ qualities on and off the field were evident, even at the young age of 22. The late Mr. Cub’s 1953 scouting report puts his skills on display and proves he always had that “very good” attitude which made him so loved in the city of Chicago long before he ever became a Major League ballplayer.

As this scouting report indicates, Banks was always destined for greatness. His place as the greatest player in Chicago Cubs history is undisputed, having hit 512 home runs and winning two MVPs during an illustrious 19-year career with the club.

He passed away Friday at the age of 83.
