All-Star teams for the Carolina League, California League and Florida State League were announced this week. The California League All-Stars will play the Carolina League All-Stars June 23, while the Florida State League fields two All-Star teams that will play each other June 20. I’ve been giving updates on notable performances in the High-A leagues throughout the season, so here are some notable names that have made the rosters.

Carolina League
Sam Travis, a Red Sox prospect, was hitting .425 over the past 10 games when he received his nomination to the team. He’s hitting .303 entering play Friday with a .366 OBP and .433 slugging percentage. Travis is a second round pick from the 2014 draft and is carrying the momentum from his fast start since becoming a pro.
Johan Camargo is having a nice bounce-back season after struggling offensively in 2014, when he hit .266/.313/.326. He’s hitting .285/.339/.382 entering play Friday, and he went 2-for-4 yesterday with a triple, his third of the season.
Bradley Zimmer got off to a torrid start this season and hasn’t slowed down. While he won’t play GotC’s No. 45 prospect Austin Meadows in the All-Star game, Zimmer has outshone the Pirates prospect. He’s hitting .309/.410/.512 and has nine home runs.
California League
This All-Star team has a ton of clout; Alex Burg (High Desert) and A.J. (Lancaster) Reed are tied for the league lead with 15 home runs; Cody Bellinger has 12 homers; and Brett Phillips was named to the roster after hitting 11 home runs and 35 extra base hits and is second in the league in slugging behind Burg.
Ryan McMahon, a 2013 second round draft pick by the Rockies, is hitting .375 his last 10 games and homered Thursday. He’s slashing .310/.401/.521 with six homers and 31 RBIs.
Pitcher Keury Mella went 5 1/3 innings and only allowed one earned run on eight strikeouts in his last start Tuesday. He is now 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. Mella is holding opponents to their lowest average since he pitched in Rookie-Ball in 2012.

The Bradenton Marauders had both of their catchers make the All-Star roster.
Reese McGuireis the team’s catcher of the future after being pick five picks behind his teammate Meadows in the first round. Fellow backstop
Jin-De Jhangis hitting .315 in 44 games at Bradenton.
Mets prospect Akeel Morris earns a spot on the roster after converting 12 of 13 save opportunities and posting a 1.74 ERA. Last season, Morris converted 16 of 17 opportunities, and Morris’ WHIP (.77) and opponent’s average (.101) are very close to where they were last season in A-ball.
Tyler Wade, a Yankees prospect, is having a very productive season despite hitting only .139 his last 10 games. He’s stolen 22 bases in 30 attempts (73.3 percent) and is hitting .289. He only has 41 strikeouts in his 52 games, so he’s not wasting at bats and is developing into a future top-of-the-order candidate.
