Braves acquire Touki Toussaint, Bronson Arroyo from Diamondbacks

11:45 EST: The Braves will send infielder Philip Gosselin to Arizona in the deal, per Rosenthal.

11:41 PM EST: FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports that the Atlanta Braves have acquired pitching prospect Touki Toussaint and starter Bronson Arroyo from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Further details of the trade are currently unclear. Arroyo hasn’t pitched since 2014, when Tommy John surgery cut his season short. The 37-year-old had posted decent numbers through 14 starts, going 7-4 with a 4.08 ERA and a complete game. However, he’s owed $9.5-million this season plus a $4.5-million buyout for next year, so the Braves are essentially absorbing the contract to “buy” Toussaint. Toussaint gets sent to Atlanta on his 19th birthday, after going 2-2 with a 3.69 ERA in seven starts for Arizona A-ball affiliate Kane County this year. The righty entered the season as Baseball America’s No. 71 prospect after going 16th overall to the D’Backs in the 2014 draft.
